The Scholar Athlete Program
Cowboys Academic Award and Academic Probation

All football players and cheerleaders must submit a final official report card with 3 copies. The incoming Kindergarten students will not be included. San Diego Youth Football and Cheer Conference will not certify any Player or Cheerleader without this report card.

Academic Probation
If the participant has Non-passing grades, the participant will be put on academic probation for six weeks from start of their new school year. A probationary report must be submitted by all participants that are on academic probation every week. We will ask the school officials to help us monitor the progress of these children in order to maintain the minimum standards for six weeks. Hopefully this will help foster a sense of understanding on the values of academics in conjunction with athletics. The report must be signed and returned by an Official School Administrator.

The Scholar Athlete Program
Only those participants with a 96 percent and above from the previous academic year and on the Jr. Pee Wee Division and higher will be considered for Scholar Athlete Program candidacy. The program scoring is based on a candidate’s report card from the previous year at 85 percent and the addendum section makes up the additional 15 percent. The addendum includes Activities and Honors from the past school year. The participant will be given a package that must be completed and returned by 9/30/2006 for submission to SDYFCC. The package should contain Application, Nomination Addendum with Activities and Honors from the past year (Extra Curricular Activities, Community Involvement). Only those players/cheerleaders in the Jr. Midget (older but lighters) and the Midget divisions that are outgoing players (moving onto high school) need to complete the essay portion. The winner is selected from either the Jr. Midget (older but lighters) or Midget divisions and could be eligible to receive a Scholarship up to (Max $1,000.00) from San Diego Youth Football and Cheer Conference.

Cowboys Academic Award
Since, SDYFCC is targeting children who scores 96% and above, we have also created a Scholar program that recognize our children at the Santee Youth Football and Cheer Association level. That program will be called “The Cowboy Academic Award”. This program will allow all children to be awarded at the Association level for academic progress in class. We recognize the children who have a GPA of 3.0 and above. These individuals will receive certificates from our Association.
